Chantel McCabe, Miss Greater Derry 2012

Derry NH, June 24, 2011 The Miss Derry Scholarship Program is proud to announce the selection of the 25th. Miss Greater Derry. Chantel McCabe is from Candia.  She is a 21-year-old senior at the University of New Hampshire, majoring in Sports Studies and Journalism.  She plans to be a sports broadcaster and has already started on the path to her career with her opportunities at hockeyeastonline.com and nesn.com.  Chantel's platform is near and dear to her heart, "Girl Scouts: Living with Courage, Confidence, and Character."  She was a girl member from 1-12th grade and now holds workshops and is a representative for the regional Girl Scout Council going to the National Girl Scout Conference.  Chantel has been competing in the Miss New Hampshire scholarship program for five years and attributes much of her success to her experiences with and through the program. In 2010, she worked to start a road race to benefit the Children's Miracle Network, which is the national platform for Miss America.  Chantel is thrilled to represent the greater Derry area and looks forward to meeting new people in the community and work with the Miss Greater Derry team. The Miss Derry Scholarship Program, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable trust, incorporated in the state of New Hampshire. This year we awarded $12,250.00 in scholarship grants. The Miss Derry Scholarship Program has awarded over $287,000.00 in scholarship grants since it's first pageant in 1987.
