About the Miss Greater Derry Scholarship Organization

The Miss Greater Derry Scholarship Program was founded in 1987 as a project of the Greater Derry Jaycees.  Suzanne Knox, Susan Tardiff, and Brenda Keith chaired the  competition initially and then Suzanne and Brenda continued through 2000 when two Miss Derry’s assumed the leadership.  Laura Short Foti and Danielle Jean took over so Brenda and Suzanne could assume the leadership of the state program

Danielle Jean has been at the healm for the majority of years between 2003 and the present, with the exception of a short hiatus in the early 2020's. In 2024, Brenda Keith returned to co-direct her local organization along with Danielle, after serving in state and national leadership roles.

Over its 37 year history, it has awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships!
